- Welcome to Midi Quest, Solo Quest, or Midi Quest Jr. V7.0
- ---------------------------------------------------------
-
- 1. If this is an upgrade, you will not find a serial number on the front page
- of the manual. Sound Quest will continue to use the serial number from the
- previous version of your product.
-
- 2. If you are installing on a slow machine, at this point any computer with a 486
- or 386 processor applies, please expect the installer to work VERY slowly. After
- making your selections, you may wait as long as 5 minutes for the installer to
- start copying files onto your hard drive. This is normal, please just be patient.
- If you press <ctrl><alt><del>, the computer may tell you that the program "has
- stopped responding to the system". This message can be safely ignored.
-
- 3. Sound Quest's BBS has been shut down and all relevant information is now stored
- on our web site. Please ignore any references to the BBS in the manual.
-
- 4. Sound Quest Inc. now has a web site at http://www.squest.com. At our web site it
- is possible for you to download the latest instrument drivers along with updated
- program files. Please check the DOWNLOAD section of the web site. The download
- area also has a FAQ page with frequently asked questions about the program and
- solutions for them.
-
- 5. To answer your questions, Sound Quest can now be reached via the internet at
- support@squest.com
-
- 6. Remember, that to view individual drivers for an instrument in the Driver List
- window you can double click anywhere in the TEXT area of the instrument bar.
- In the case of a Korg M1, double click where you see the names of the
- connected ports. This will expand the instrument to show the individual
- drivers. This information is included as users often seem to miss this in the
- manual.
-
- 7. If you have saved a bank of names to Cakewalk v3's MASTER.INS file, the you
- will need to select "Define New Instrument" in Cakewalk for these names to be
- viewed in the sequencing software.
-
- 8. To backup your Solo Quest software, please make a copy of the files on your
- hard drive. This will provide you will a complete backup of your software
- application. In order to retain the information about which instrument is
- installed, Solo Quest's disk #1 or Program disk will not disk copy properly.
-
- 9. We have received reports that a program called "Hot Sync" that is included
- with 3Com's Palm Pilot Professional is extremely nasty to computer memory and
- should not be run while Midi Quest is running.
-
- 10. The Midi Quest CDROM now contains over 56,000 patches for various instruments
- with other data. The data is organized in the MQDATA directory of the CDROM. The
- easiest way to make use of these files is to find the directories for instruments
- that you have and then copy the contents of the directory into the equivalent
- directory in MQDATA directory of your Midi Quest/Solo Quest installation on your
- hard drive.
-
- 11. If you are installing to a Windows NT 4.0 system. Please see the ReadMe.txt file on
- the control disk.
